Manegia

Year 1422

TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP

“So it is time,” Gabriel muttered, watching the projected screen the operator viewed, watching the world of Kaomagi through the [Drone].

“Huh, can’t believe the heroes summoning from a sister Earth is something many worlds have,” Russel, the snarky yet ever dutiful priest of Gabriel’s faith, remarked. “So many of them that all the Earths got sick of those stories shoved by the Storykeeper.”

“Strange thing indeed for one event to be so commonplace among worlds,” Gabriel nodded as he watched the mages preparing the summoning circle in the throne room of the kingdom responsible for bringing forth the heroes. “But I do worry for the summoned heroes this time, especially when the Vengefuls had risen five years earlier than they are supposed to.”

“Yeah, if Geron Yor was any indication, kids summoned from Earth aren’t hero material anymore; they’re way too soft,” Russel commented as the mages were going about preparing the summoning with everyone else in the throne room watching with bated breath. “If the Vengefuls are going to be stronger than ever before, we’ll need people who are tough from the start, not greenhorns we need to train, blessings or no.”

“True, and yet summoning career soldiers would do more harm than good, strangely enough. As immoral as it is, the current system of summoning is the best choice we have short of the Court intervening again,” Gabriel lamented as the light of the summoning began. “It is at times like this that I wonder if the first Guardians’ decision to cause this invasion to happen every century is wise.”

“I still don’t think so,” Russel grumbled as he crossed his arms, watching the summoning. “Anyway, where are the rest from Kaomagi Earth? It’s their world that’s getting kids pulled to ours.”

“Well, the children are still in school,” Gabriel remarked. “Ronald and Joshua are both retired, not to mention that they are still working.”

“Oh yeah, that’s right,” Russel remembered with an unamused expression. “Modern life sounds pretty boring, doing mindless stuff the whole day, every day.”

“That is not exactly for us to judge,” Gabriel chided calmly. “Regardless, what of Sarah and Jacob? Are they in the throne room watching the summoning?”

“Yeah, they are. Right there,” Russel said, pointing out a maid and butler among the brightly crowded room on the screen. “And it’s done.”

As the priest said, the light of summoning died down, revealing a group of schoolchildren regaining their senses after going through the transfer for the first time. Naturally, they were all shocked and confused seeing themselves suddenly in a medieval fantasy throne room and all. The king, seeing the summoned children, immediately began to calm them down.

“Now let’s see who we got here…” Russel muttered, glancing across the screen before blinking. “Is that Master Will?”

Among the crowd of confused schoolchildren, both Life Court Wizards saw the familiar brown-haired teen. They saw him immediately lashing out before the king or anyone else could say anything, and then collapsing from the recoil of having all of his maneg expelled from the non-Transporter Room transfer.

“Oh dear,” was all Gabriel could utter.

Azhure: See you in the next book.

Voice: Spoiler alert! He’s doing a bunch of chapters on Erdale before writing Celery Stick!

Azhure: So, what do you all think of this part? Is it good? Are there any problems with it? Any reviews or feedback are appreciated as long as they’re not plain insults meant to blow off your stress.

Voice: Don’t do that to people! Not even on the internet!
